Agata Lelek
Born in Warsaw, Poland, Agata Lelek studied art in her homeland at the School of Visual Arts between 1974 and 1979 where she received a Diploma in 3D Design, leading her subsequently to employment as a graphic artist in colour separation and design. She also studied in Australia with Frank Bathy.

Since settling in Australia she has become a well known and admired art tutor specializing in teaching the rigors of portraiture and figurative realism direct from life to art groups as well as to students privately from her home studio.

Agata’s studied hand and refined control allows her to retain a dynamic spontaneity to the vectors of her drawn line, which in turn imparts a gritty realism and vigor to the reflective manner of her human subjects; hers are certainly the proficient threads in the tradition of the European grand masters refined into a contemporary statement without sacrificing any of the classical graphic clout.

Her affinity for collage and mixed media works is uncanny in that it reveals a risk-taker, an artist willing step outside the comfort zone and make aesthetically beautiful pictures which actually communicate not only a great love for the finished product of art, but for the creative process itself.

The winner of many awards, Agata has held numerous exhibitions and also devotes her time to painting mural commissions.
